Pepsi is one of the world’s best known and most popular cola drinks.
Caleb Bradham, an American pharmacist, concocted the beverage in 1898. In 1903, Bradham registered the Pepsi Cola brand and began manufacturing and selling the bottled soft drink at his pharmacy. Within a year the demand for Pepsi Cola led to sales of 19,848 gallons.
The Pepsi logo was introduced in 1906. Its distinct red and white design and ornamental letters have undergone a few changes over the years. In 1942, the classic logo was redesigned in the shape of a bottle cap, and the color blue was added. The Pepsi brand has been represented by the colors red, white and blue ever since.
In 1939, during the Great Depression, Pepsi launched the family-sized Pepsi bottle, which became an overnight success.
In 1961, Pepsi Cola became Pepsi, signifying the brand’s status. At that time it was already one of the best-known cola brands in the world.
Pepsi arrived in Israel in 1991. From the moment it entered the market, it became one of the most loved soft drinks in Israel, and remains so to this day.
Pepsi’s commercials are known for featuring the world’s most iconic performers, such as Madonna, David Bowie, Beyoncé, Michael Jackson, Tina Turner, Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, and Israeli violinist Miri Ben Ari.
In 1993, the Pepsi company launched Pepsi Max, sold in the United States as Diet Pepsi Max.
